My 5 favourite hotels
1. Crown Towers (Melbourne)
I have stayed there the last six, seven years when I have been playing in
the Australian Open. It feels like coming home and it has everything that
you can wish for: beautiful rooms, great interiors throughout the hotel,
flawless service, phenomenal spa and gym section, and a very good room
service menu which is important for me that play matches at different times
of the day. And, not to forget, there is a casino next door, which is
excellent for a gambler like me!
2. Columbus (Monte Carlo)
The Formula 1 driver David Coulthard is part owner. Original interiors with
dark, african inspired furniture and superb lighting which creates a warm
atmosphere. Carefully thought through into the smallest detail. Great gym.
Will soon open also in Paris and London.
3. Singita Boulders (Sydafrika)
One of the best safari lodges in the world. An oasis in the Krüger
National Park and a sensational nature experience where you live in a house
of your own with open spaces, huge windows and a terrace outlooking the
savanna, which is the first thing you see when you wake up in the morning.
Further more: infinity pool, outdoor shower, extreme attention to details
and extraordinary food and service.
4. Sanderson (London)
Looks like a unimpressive office from the outside (I thought I had the wrong
address at first) but totally spaced out ŕ la Philippe Starck on the inside.
Bold, fun, original and full of surprises with different looks in different
parts of the hotel, like a cosy court yard all of a sudden, and a gym all in
white. Restaurant with two Michelin stars.
5. Le Royal Meridien (Hamburg)
A modern high tech hotel with vibrant colours, great Internet connections
and plasma TV:s in every room. Also with a great location and sea view.
